My name is Lindsey Winchester, I’m 30 years old and work as a loan processing analyst at a bank outside of Charlottesville. I have a wonderful boyfriend that has tolerated me for 9 years, you all know him as Terry aka TP.
How long have you been doing crossfit?
I started Crossfit the 2nd week of the Rock being open so 3 years.
When/what was your “crossfit moment” or have you had one? (the one where you think you may actually die)
Let’s see if I could really narrow it down to just one, haha…the one I will never forget is Renee Whitmore’s AOTM workout which involved thrusters, shoulder to overhead and something else. Believe me….it was horrible!! Also the open workout (16.4?) Which was the handstand pushups, calorie row, deadlifts and wallballs…that was pure pain for hours!
What are your favorite crossfit movements?
Double unders, pistols, power cleans, push jerks and anything cardio really
What movement makes you look at the white board and want to walk back out the door?
Deadlifts and squats
What are your goals?
I just want to have a healthy and fit life by doing workouts with a group of athletes that I am blessed to call my friends. I want to become stronger so when I compete in my first crossfit competition, I won’t be the weakest link
What motivates you to continue coming back?
The results from the hard work put in each and every day, the people that workout at the Rock and the gym itself!! I’ve never been to a gym where it feels like home and look forward to going to every day, even when the workouts make me want to leave, haha!!
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Omgoodness….pizza, ice cream, sour patch kids (lately for some reason), pasta…honestly anything that’s bad for you I like…other than fried foods.
In your own words what is Rocktown Crossfit?
My 2nd home! It is by far the best crossfit gym I’ve ever been to that treats every individual with the same respect and no big egos. The athletes and coaches is what makes the Rock successful!!

I want to say a huge thank you to all of the coaches. You all have seen me every way possible…where I’ve been broken down & crying, frustrated, happy, loud, quiet, everything!! Thank y’all for putting up with my crap and pushing me to do more weight on certain workouts where I doubt myself. Each one of you have been so supportive and help motivate me to become a better athlete each day. The 5:45 and 6:15 crew have been my main squeezes but I love everyone at the gym! Each one of you is awesome and bring so much personality to the gym! All of you is what makes working out enjoyable…with some aches and pains of course!
A Note from the Rocktown Staff:
Lindz! What a climb you have been on! It felt like yesterday you were trying to figure out how to get your toes to the bar and now, with the help of your special jump, you’re nailing them no problem A lot of you that come in see the color coordinated, mostly quiet fit girl…but whats not forgotten is how hard she has worked and how consistent she has been the past 3+ years. Even with little bumps along the way Lindsey has been smart in her training, listened to her body and its been a lot of fun to see her become the athlete she is today. I don’t think Lindsey has missed a partner workout since we opened our doors…and I’m honestly not sure anyone has been lucky enough to be her partner besides her loving boyfriend Terry Patterson Another great thing about Lindsey is believe it or not she does have a sense of humor…She puts up with a lot of ribbing during the 5:45am class, but hopefully she knows its always in good fun! Congrats Lindz…I’d say keep up the hard work but we know that’s the only way you roll!
